The Formatt Hitech 105mm UV Haze 2A filter uses Schott-Desag B270 crown optical glass to absorb ultraviolet light, protecting image clarity and the lens itself in one accessory.
At altitude, near water, and over long distances, UV scatter robs images of contrast and crispness; the Haze 2A absorbs UV wavelengths to keep distant subjects better defined. Many photographers also leave a UV filter mounted permanently as inexpensive insurance against scratches, spray, and dust on costly front elements. The 105mm size serves large professional telephoto and fast prime lenses.
